Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for a Student Visa (Subclass 500), you must:
→ Have a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
- Issued by an Australian educational provider registered with CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).
→ Meet Genuine Student (GS) Criteria
- The Government has replaced the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement for student visas with a Genuine Student (GS) requirement. This is effective for student visa applications lodged on and after 23 March 2024.All applicants for a student visa must be a genuine applicant for entry. They must stay as a student and be able to show an understanding that studying in Australia is the primary reason of their student visa. The GS requirement is intended to include students who, after studying in Australia, develop skills Australia needs and who then go on to apply for permanent residence.
→ Have Adequate Health Insurance (OSHC)
- Overseas Student Health Cover is mandatory for the whole duration of your visa.
→ Meet English Language Requirements
- Unless exempt, provide proof of English proficiency (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, PTE).
→ Satisfy Financial Capacity Requirements
- Show you have sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs for yourself and accompanying family members.
→ Meet Health and Character Requirements
- Undergo medical examinations and provide police clearance certificates if required.
Student Visa (Subclass 500)
The Student Visa (Subclass 500) allows international students to live and study full-time at an accredited educational institution in Australia.
